The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Team Leader to join our Finance team and help lead the day-to-day Accounts Payable operations that support our growing business. Based in Preston and reporting to the Accounts Payable 2IC & Retail Lead, this role will see you lead and support onshore and offshore Accounts Payable team members, while ensuring invoices, payments and reconciliations are processed accurately and within agreed timeframes.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong Accounts Payable or finance operations experience who enjoys leading people, improving processes and working in a role where accuracy, service delivery and stakeholder relationships are key.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

- Lead day-to-day Accounts Payable operations across onshore and offshore teams
- Ensure invoices, payments and reconciliations are processed accurately and on time
- Oversee supplier payments in line with trading terms and internal deadlines
- Support 3-way matching processes for stock and non-stock invoices
- Act as an escalation point for vendor queries, disputes and payment issues
- Coach, support and develop Accounts Payable team members
- Allocate workloads and ensure key tasks are prioritised during busy periods
- Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Payable reports as required
- Track key performance indicators including processing times, error rates and aged payables




- Identify process gaps, risks and improvement opportunities
- Support governance, compliance, audit requirements and internal controls

About You

You’ll bring strong Accounts Payable or finance operations experience, along with the confidence to lead a team in a busy, high-volume environment. To be successful, you will ideally bring:

- Strong experience in Accounts Payable, finance operations or a similar role
- Leadership, supervisory or team coordination experience
- Strong experience using SAP S/4HANA
- Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Confidence working with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced Excel skills highly regarded
- Experience with SharePoint will be viewed favourably
