Brunner & Lay Australia is looking for a motivated and reliable Entry Level Underground Mining Service Operative to join our Mining Services team supporting underground mining operations in the Cobar region.
This is an opportunity to build a career in the mining industry while working directly in an underground hard-rock mining environment.
You don't need previous mining experience. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Full training will be provided.
What You'll Be Doing
Working alongside underground mining crews and experienced Brunner & Lay team members, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient supply and servicing of drilling consumables.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Working underground servicing drilling consumables and supporting drill crews.
- Managing drill bits, rods, shanks and other drilling consumables.
- Inspecting and reporting on product usage, condition and performance.
- Refurbishing drill bits as required.
- Managing onsite stock and inventory.
- Completing daily reporting and data entry.
- Communicating with underground drill operators, supervisors and the Brunner & Lay team.
- Maintaining a high standard of safety and housekeeping.
- Supporting the efficient delivery and collection of products and equipment when required.
The role is hands-on and physically active, with the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience within underground mining.

- Good communication skills.

- Good attention to detail and time management.
- The physical ability to safely perform manual handling duties.
- A willingness to work underground.
- A current manual Australian Driver Licence.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to complete daily reporting.
Experience & Qualifications
Previous mining experience is desirable but not essential.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Underground mining
- Mechanical work
- Warehousing
- Drilling
- Bit sharpening or refurbishment
- Forklift operation
- Four-wheel-drive operation
Roster & Location
The primary location is the Cobar region, with applications welcomed from across Central West NSW.
