Little Learners ELC is a privately owned, family-run early learning service, offering state-of-the-art, purpose-built learning environments where children, families and educators feel genuinely welcomed, valued and supported.

We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic and caring Kitchen Hand to join our team and support the smooth running of our kitchen and meal service.
This is a great prospect for someone who enjoys working in a team environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and understands the important role nutritious food plays in children's health and wellbeing.
Importantly, we are looking for someone who is willing to learn all aspects of the kitchen and develop the skills and confidence to step into the Cook role when our regular Cook is absent.
About the Role
- Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks
- Supporting our Cook with daily kitchen tasks
- Washing dishes and maintaining clean and hygienic kitchen areas
- Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, benches and food preparation areas
- Assisting with food storage and stock rotation
- Following food safety, hygiene and infection control procedures
- Supporting the kitchen team to maintain a safe and organised environment
- Assisting with general kitchen duties as required
- Working respectfully and collaboratively with educators and other team members
- Supporting the provision of nutritious and enjoyable meals for children
- Learning the day-to-day responsibilities of the Cook and being prepared to step into the Cook role when required, including during periods of Cook absence
- Following Little Learners' policies and procedures relating to food safety, nutrition, hygiene and children's dietary requirements

- Passionate about maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Responsible and committed to food safety
- Respectful and professional when working around children, families and educators
- Willing and enthusiastic to learn all aspects of the kitchen
- Willing to step into the Cook role when the regular Cook is absent
- Flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities when required
- Open to learning and developing their skills
- Committed to contributing positively to the Little Learners team
Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, childcare, hospitality or similar environment will be highly regarded.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate – highly regarded
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Willingness to complete Child Safe Training as part of our employment requirements
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- A genuine commitment to children's health, safety and wellbeing
- Willingness to learn and develop the skills required to confidently support the Cook role when required
