We are seeking a seasoned Senior Solution Architect to lead a critical legacy app modernisation program of work for a major enterprise client.

Embedded within the Enterprise PMO Delivery Portfolio, your primary focus will be architecting the next-generation customer-facing digital portal. You will bridge legacy systems with cutting-edge cloud infrastructure-ensuring the new portal is secure, highly scalable, and delivers exceptional user outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the architectural design and decomposition strategy to modernise monolithic legacy applications into microservices and contemporary cloud-native architectures.
- Define the vision, integration patterns, and target-state architecture for a high-traffic, customer-facing portal focused on security, performance, and seamless user experience.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for AWS cloud design, establishing best practices for serverless, containerisation, API gateways, and cloud networking.
- Evaluate legacy constraints, formulate technical options (RFIs, RFPs, or PoCs), and define phased, risk-mitigated migration roadmaps.
- Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects, product leads, and third‑party vendors to align business vision with technical execution.
- Architect for high availability, robust Identity & Access Management (IAM), observability, and strict compliance in a regulated environment.





Key Challenges in the Role

- Architecting a seamless customer portal experience while untangling and integrating complex, tightly coupled legacy backends.
- Managing phased migration strategies to ensure zero disruption to live customer transactions and ongoing operations.
- Navigating multi-stakeholder expectations across business, security, and IT groups during significant digital change.

What You'll Bring to the Team

- 7+ years in IT, with 4+ years as a Solution Architect driving major enterprise modernisation initiatives.
- Deep, hands‑on architectural experience with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, IAM, DynamoDB/RDS).
- Proven track record architecting secure, high‑availability web portals, mobile APIs, or digital front‑ends.
- Experience with modern architecture patterns (microservices, event‑driven, API‑first design, Strangler Fig pattern).
- Exposure to Snowflake, Java applications, identity providers (OAuth/OIDC), and modern observability platforms (Datadog/Dynatrace) is highly regarded.
- Background in regulated environments, automated CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, and cost optimisation (FinOps).
- Exceptional ability to explain complex technical trade‑offs to business stakeholders and guide engineering teams through implementation.
