The Opportunity
We are excited to invite an enthusiastic Maintenance and Grounds Officer to join our team. This is a permanent part time position working 27.5 hours per week. The Maintenance and Grounds Officer will contribute to a range of routine tasks to ensure our College is to a high standard of presentation and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing gardening duties including planting, sowing, weeding and preparing garden beds and rockeries including competent and safe use of hand-held power equipment such as blowers and lawn edgers
- Maintaining gardens, sports grounds and/or facilities
- Safely operating, maintaining, turf and ride on powered machinery
- Applying trade skills in construction, maintenance and repair tasks safely using precision hand and power tools and equipment
- Contribute to the College’s WHS practices and liaise with specialist licensed providers or contractors to facilitate more complex tasks and activities across the College
About You
We are seeking someone who:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in building and grounds maintenance and use of standard machinery, tools, and equipment
- Knowledge and experience of general garden and turf management
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience to safely and responsibly operating minor plant and equipment, such as chainsaw, leaf blower, ride-on lawn mower and edge trimmer
- Sound computing skills and knowledge and able to utilise Microsoft Office suite
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others as a positive team member
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to safely and responsibly take direction and respond appropriately
- Accredited trade skills in areas such as horticulture, gardening, or the maintenance of sports grounds work is preferrable but not essential
