The opportunities
Depending on the team and your background, roles may include responsibility for:
- Managing a portfolio of defendant insurance matters
- Advising on liability, quantum and claims strategy
- Handling complex factual and evidentiary issues
- Working with medical, engineering, forensic and liability experts
- Drafting advices, pleadings, submissions and correspondence
- Managing litigation across the relevant Courts and Tribunals
- Participating in mediations, conferences and settlement negotiations
- Developing direct relationships with insurers and corporate clients
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers at more senior levels
Several of the practices offer significant autonomy and the opportunity to take day-to-day carriage of files while retaining solid Partner support.
About you
These opportunities will suit lawyers from approximately 3 years’ PAE through to established Senior Associate level with experience in defendant insurance, personal injury or related litigation.
Relevant experience may include
- General Liability

- Workers Compensation / Statutory Classes

- Broader defendant insurance litigation
Strong candidates will generally demonstrate:
- Excellent drafting and analytical capability
- Commercial and strategic judgement
- Confidence managing matters with increasing autonomy
- Strong insurer and client communication skills
- Experience working with expert witnesses
- A collaborative approach
- The ability to supervise and mentor junior lawyers at Senior Associate level
