Help shape a new creative agency from the beginning

Tempo is looking for an experienced Client Services & Studio Manager to sit at the centre of our growing agency.

Tempo is a new Canberra-based creative agency, established alongside Inklab, one of Canberra’s most experienced independent creative studios.

While Tempo is current, you won’t be starting from scratch. You’ll work alongside experienced directors and a talented creative team, with the opportunity to help shape how Tempo works, grows and supports its clients.

This is a key role for someone who understands agency life, builds strong relationships and loves bringing order to creative chaos.

About Tempo

Tempo is a creative agency for organisations ready to grow, evolve or create change.

We bring clarity to positioning, audiences and direction, then translate that thinking into brands, campaigns, digital experiences and content that connect with people and drive results.

Our multidisciplinary team brings together strategists, designers, digital specialists, writers and producers, connecting strategic thinking with creative execution and ongoing delivery.

Established alongside Inklab, Tempo draws on more than 18 years of agency experience, proven processes and senior creative leadership, with the energy and ambition of a new business.

The role

You’ll manage projects from proposal through to delivery, coordinating clients, timelines, budgets, resources and suppliers.

You’ll become the trusted day-to-day contact for many of our clients, taking the time to understand their organisations, priorities and challenges.

You’ll work closely with Tempo’s creative team and bring in broader strategic, creative and production expertise as required.

As an early member of Tempo, you’ll also have a genuine influence on how we work, the relationships we build and the culture we create.

What you’ll do

- Build trusted client relationships and manage day-to-day communication
- Take ownership of project timelines, budgets, deliverables and approvals
- Coordinate studio workflow, internal resources and external suppliers
- Lead scheduling and work-in-progress meetings
- Run discovery meetings and develop clear creative briefs
- Prepare estimates, proposals, schedules and project documentation
- Maintain accurate project information and reporting in Streamtime
- Identify risks early and keep projects on track
- Improve studio systems, templates and ways of working
- Support new business opportunities and client onboarding

About you

You’ll have around 5 to 7 years’ experience in a design, digital, marketing or advertising agency.

You understand how creative projects move through a studio and know how to keep multiple jobs progressing without losing sight of the details.

You’re comfortable navigating multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and complex delivery environments.

You know when to keep things moving, when to ask better questions and when a client or project needs more attention.

More importantly, you naturally create confidence. Clients trust you, teams rely on you and you take genuine satisfaction in making things run better.

You’ll bring:

- Creative agency experience
- Strong client relationship and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience developing creative briefs
- Commercial awareness and confidence managing budgets
- Outstanding organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise across multiple active projects
- A calm, proactive and solutions-focused approach
- An interest in helping build a growing agency

Experience with Streamtime or similar agency management software would be highly regarded.

Why join Tempo?

- Help shape a new agency from its early stages
- Join a new business backed by an established creative agency
- Work alongside experienced creative directors and specialists
- Deliver varied work for government, institutional and commercial clients
- Influence how the studio operates and grows
- Enjoy a supportive and adaptable working environment
- Build a pathway into senior client services or agency leadership

What success looks like

Within your first six months:

- Clients feel informed and confident
- Projects have clear timelines, budgets and milestones
- Studio scheduling is organised and visible
- Briefs are clear and the team knows what’s happening next
- Tempo has strong systems in place to support its growth
