Job Description

Sydekick Robotics Pty. Ltd. As our Forward Deployment Engineer, you are the critical bridge between our core technology and our customers' production environments.

You will embed yourself directly into our partners' ecosystems, quickly adapting to their custom software, processes, and facilities to successfully integrate our Sydekick Physical AI Platform and the network, server and storage infrastructure that supports it. This is a fast-paced, highly cross-functional role requiring a blend of network and systems engineering, hands‑on infrastructure expertise, and field‑readiness. You will travel regularly to customer sites, often spending several weeks on‑site, to configure our platform, support their R&D; teams, and troubleshoot complex systems in real‑time.

Task & responsibilities

- Travel to customer sites to install, configure, and integrate the Sydekick platform within their facilities.
- Embed yourself into client teams to define integration requirements, deployment architectures, and technical roadmaps.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot physical IT infrastructure, including local GPU compute, edge storage (NAS, RAID arrays, ZFS), and hardware racks.
- Administer enterprise networks, managing routing and switching, link aggregation (LACP), network file services (NFS), firewalls, VLANs, and VPN site‑to‑site configurations.
- Oversee and manage data synchronisation and telemetry uploads from large fleets of devices to our existing Google Cloud and Azure backends.




- Provide hands‑on training to local R&D; teams on the operation of the deployed platform and its supporting infrastructure.
- Work closely with the Sydekick software team to synthesise key customer feedback and define system improvements to scale our platform.
- Integrate and deploy the Sydekick software platform across customer compute, storage and network environments.
- Track, communicate, and optimise deployment KPIs, including network and system uptime, latency, task success rate, and robustness.
- Rapidly diagnose and drive the resolution of network, systems, data, and platform integration issues.

Qualification & experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking, Engineering, AI, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in network and systems engineering or a closely related technical role.
- Hands‑on experience in enterprise network administration, physical IT infrastructure deployment, and server operating systems.
- Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills across interconnected software systems, cloud environments, hardware, and networks.
- Ability to thrive in a quick‑paced, dynamic startup environment and troubleshoot high‑tech systems under real‑world, real‑time conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to manage technical relationships with external partners.
- Willingness to travel regularly for on‑site deployments and customer support (valid driver's licence required).
