We’re looking for an Automation Specialist who understands energy retail operations and is excited about taking automation beyond traditional workflows and into agentic AI .
This is a hands-on opportunity to join a growing energy business that is already operating in an agentic way of working , with access to established systems, tools and technology to experiment, build and create smarter operational processes.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll initially combine energy retail operations with automation , learning the business, its systems and regulatory processes before progressively moving towards a dedicated automation focus.
You’ll
- Analyse operational processes and identify opportunities to automate repetitive and manual work.
- Design, build and continuously improve intelligent workflows and automations.
- Work with AI tools and models to support decision-making and move beyond simple rule-based automation.
- Identify where human decision-making creates bottlenecks and explore how agentic AI can help streamline these processes.
- Document processes, automation logic, dependencies and outcomes.
- Work closely with Technology, Product, Development and Operations teams.
- Measure automation performance, efficiency gains and adoption.
- Help shape the next generation of intelligent operational systems from the ground up.
What we’re looking for We’re not looking for someone based purely on job titles or qualifications . We want someone who is curious, switched-on,
analytical and genuinely interested in how AI can transform the way businesses operate.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience in energy retail operations , utilities, telecommunications, water, gas or a similar regulated environment.
- An understanding of energy retail processes and regulatory requirements .
- Practical exposure to automation or workflow technologies .
- A strong interest and understanding of AI and emerging agentic AI capabilities .
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent Excel/data skills; Python and SQL are highly desirable .
- The ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly and build solutions from the ground up.
- A mindset focused on experimentation, continuous improvement and finding better ways to work.

The role reports to the Transformation Strategy Manager and sits within a technology function of around 40 people, in a broader organisation of approximately 130 employees.
? Package: Up to $80K-$120K including super, plus a 12.5% short-term incentive and potential performance bonuses of up to approximately $15K per year.
? Location: Melbourne Eastern Suburbs, Melbourne – 3 days per week in the office is required.
