Role Description The Business Development & Strategic Partnerships role is a full-time hybrid position based in Melbourne, VIC, with flexibility for some work from home. The role is responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and developing new business opportunities across private, public, and community sectors that align with Unlock Possibilities’ strategic advisory and leadership support services. Day-to-day work includes conducting market and stakeholder research, building and nurturing relationships with prospective and existing partners, and developing tailored partnership proposals and presentations.
The role also involves managing the end-to-end business development pipeline, coordinating discovery conversations and workshops, and collaborating with internal team members to shape offerings that address complex client needs. The person in this role will track performance, provide insight-driven recommendations to refine business development strategies, and represent Unlock Possibilities at relevant events and forums to grow visibility and impact.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills and Market Research capabilities to understand client contexts, identify opportunities, and interpret complex information.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to build trust-based relationships, facilitate complex conversations, and support partners throughout the engagement lifecycle.
- Candidates should possess effective Lead Generation skills and related business development abilities to create, qualify, and advance new partnership and revenue opportunities.
- Candidates should possess experience in strategic partnerships, consulting, or professional services, ideally with exposure to governance, finance, leadership, or organizational development.
- Candidates should possess strong stakeholder management, proposal writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a small, high-trust team workplace.
- Candidates should possess a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., business, commerce, public policy, or related field), or equivalent practical experience, and demonstrate commitment to inclusive, ethical, and impact-focused work.
