Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Project Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

You will have strong experience in project engineeringin rail systems and signalling, along with experience in real-time system engineering, testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques. Experience in turnkey projects(within rail signalling) highly desirable,particularlydelivering systems such as ETCS, ERTMS and CBTC.

Specialised responsibilities:

- Responsible for delivery of all TMS for the Alliance
- Responsible for the integration of the overall Alliance TMS

Key responsibilities:

- Supports Engineering Manager on preparing reports, attending technical meeting and supporting technical activities
- Implement the technical solution within the assigned scope.
- Monitordocument submission in terms of on time, on quality and onrespect of Cost budget, according to the Contract, excluding RAMS.
- Executeproject technical activitiesin line with the procedure implementing design and verification process (i.e. design review).
- Ensure that project objectives are clearly communicated to the project team and monitor technical project activities are aligned with the project schedule.
- Ensure that the staffing,



workload analysis and resource allocation to the specific activities
- Prepare, check andsubmit TCNs. Once authorized, assure thattechnical change and variation order are traced and implemented inside design activitiesand included in the Technology project cost revision.
- Ensure that project technical criticalities/risk list and management is implemented, continuously updated and evaluated with the support of interested Functional Manager, Engineering Manager and Project Manager.
- Execute the correct Document Management (submission andtransmittal process), part of the overall Design Management.
- Contribute that correct Configuration Management process is in place.
- Ensure an interface for the technical definition and construction document delivery duringexecution of on-site activities.
- Guaranteethe execution of the Verification activities of project engineering documents and of documents issued by WPLs by monitoring their execution by the Project' WPLs,according to the V&V; Plan.
- Contribute to the definition and execution of T&C; activities (e.g. acting as interface with other technology unit involved in the project).
- Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of continuous improvement.
- Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of safety.

Key knowledge and experience:

- Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with background in Systems Engineering.




- 5+years’ experience in a project/engineering management role,and having this experiencein rail, systems and signalling is highly desirable.
- Experience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.
- Estimating and negotiations.
- Scope management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse cultural organization with multiple key stakeholders displaying highly polished interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in effective resource management and working with a large multi-cultural team.
- Strong working relationships with technology providers.
- Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a fast-paced environment.
