$75K PA - $85K PA CVN PTY LTD which operates Jamaica Blue in Karratha is looking for a full-time Chef and Cook for their busy venue. Jamaica Blue in Karratha, Western Australia, is part of the well-known Jamaica Blue café franchise, celebrated across Australia for its premium coffee and fresh, made-to-order meals.
Located in the heart of Karratha, this venue offers a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike to enjoy quality food and great service in a relaxed, contemporary setting. Whether you're stopping in for a quick coffee or a sit-down brunch, Jamaica Blue Karratha delivers a consistent and enjoyable café experience backed by a nationally trusted brand. We are looking for a passionate hospitality professional who can contribute to the effective operation of our busy kitchen while maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and service.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: To be considered for this position, you will need a relevant industry qualification and at least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will be expected to:
-Demonstrate excellent food preparation, cooking and plating skills. -Maintain a strong focus on the quality, consistency and presentation of dishes. -Keep up to date with emerging food trends, cooking methods and techniques.
-Contribute to menu planning, including seasonal menu development.
-Assist with estimating and controlling food and labour costs. -Plan menus and determine food and ingredient requirements.
-Order food, ingredients and other kitchen supplies as required. -Monitor stock levels and assist with effective stock control. -Work closely with management on food preparation and kitchen operations.
-Assist management with staff rostering and labour cost control. -Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety. -Manage high-volume service periods efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
-Train and support junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques, procedures and food preparation standards. -Assist with the recruitment, induction and training of kitchen staff where required. -Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff regarding customer requirements, dietary needs and special requests.
-Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment. -Demonstrate excellent presentation, grooming and professional standards. -Provide a high level of customer care and service.
YOU MUST BE: -Available to work evenings, weekends and school holidays as required. -Flexible, reliable and able to work effectively in a busy hospitality environment.
