Brisbane CBD | Full-Time | Civil 3D / 12D | Career Growth Opportunity

JBU Group is seeking a Civil Designer to join our Brisbane team and support the delivery of mining, infrastructure and industrial projects across Australia. This is a great opportunity for a developing designer who wants real project exposure, strong mentoring, up-to-date design tools and a clear pathway to Senior Civil Designer. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and designers on practical civil packages where quality and continuous learning matter.

What You'll Be Doing

Project scope

- Roads, access tracks and civil site layouts.
- Bulk earthworks, site grading, pads, platforms, hardstands and carparks.
- Drainage layouts, pit and pipe systems, open channels and culverts.
- Mining, regional infrastructure and industrial site projects.

Design & drafting support

- Prepare civil design models and drawings using Civil 3D and/or 12D, supported by AutoCAD.
- Support design documentation for roads, earthworks, grading, drainage and site infrastructure.
- Prepare surfaces, sections, layouts and drawing packages under guidance from senior team members.
- Assist with quantity take-offs, model checks and documentation updates.

Learning & coordination

- Work closely with engineers, senior designers and project managers.
- Apply JBU standards, templates and QA processes.
- Interpret survey data, sketches and mark-ups.
- Participate in design reviews and build capability from technical feedback.

You're a motivated Civil Designer who wants to keep improving. You enjoy working in a team, take pride in accurate documentation, and want to learn directly from experienced engineers and designers.

Skills & Experience

Essential

- 2+ years' experience in civil design, drafting or infrastructure delivery.
- Experience using Civil 3D and/or 12D, with AutoCAD drafting capability.
- Understanding of civil design documentation for roads, earthworks, grading or drainage.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

Highly Regarded

- Mining, industrial, infrastructure or land development project exposure.
- Experience with BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks or similar systems.
- Certificate IV, Diploma or relevant qualification in civil design/drafting.
- Exposure to model QA, drawing checks and Common Data Environments.
- Genuine interest in progressing towards a Senior Civil Designer role.
