Veterinary Nurse (Full Time)
Greencross Vets Aitkenvale | Townsville, QLD
When a Practice Manager has been with a clinic for 14 years and many of the nurses for over a decade, you know you're looking at something special.
Greencross Vets Aitkenvale is seeking an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly, long-standing team in beautiful Townsville.
Established in 2006, Greencross Aitkenvale has built a strong reputation within the local community for delivering exceptional patient care and creating lasting relationships with clients and their pets. Recently renovated and conveniently located near Stockland Townsville, our clinic is central, easily accessible from all Townsville suburbs, and supported by a strong local Greencross network, providing plenty of opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and professional support.
If you're looking for a role where you can fully utilise your nursing skills while being part of a genuinely supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
At Greencross Aitkenvale, you’ll be joining something special.
Team stability here is rare. Our Practice Manager has been with the clinic for 14 years, and many of our nurses have been part of the team for 10–13 years.
You're not walking into a clinic with constant turnover—you're joining a team that genuinely knows, trusts, and supports one another. From day one, you'll have experienced colleagues around you who are happy to share their knowledge, lend a hand, and help you succeed.
Our recently renovated clinic provides a modern, welcoming environment for both our team and patients. We also offer Puppy Preschool,
helping young pets and their owners get off to the best possible start.
Our culture is built on:
- Collaboration and teamwork
- High standards of patient care
- Supporting one another through busy days
- Having fun while doing meaningful work
Being located close to James Cook University, we benefit from a constant flow of new graduate veterinarians, creating a vibrant learning environment filled with fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Alongside this, we are passionate about developing future veterinary nurses through our Veterinary Nursing Internship Program, regularly welcoming junior nurses into the clinic to gain valuable hands‑on experience.
For experienced nurses, this creates exciting opportunities to mentor others, share your knowledge, and contribute to the development of the next generation of veterinary professionals while continuing to learn and grow yourself.
As part of the wider Greencross Townsville network, you’ll also be connected to five nearby Greencross clinics, giving you access to a larger community of veterinary professionals, broad clinical support, and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the region.
An added bonus for our team is the excellent veterinary support available locally. While the clinic previously offered overnight patient monitoring and Sunday services,
the presence of both JCUVet Emergency & Referral Hospital and NQ Care 24/7 means after‑hours and critical cases can now be referred. This has significantly improved work/life balance for our team while ensuring patients continue to receive outstanding care around the clock.
About the Role
This is a full‑time Veterinary Nurse position offering variety, challenge, and the opportunity to utilise your nursing skills every day. There are also opportunities to work at other Greencross clinics, such as Deeragun.
