About the Role
Our Subdivision and Development Certification Team has an exciting prospect for a suitably experienced professional to join the Team as a Development Engineer. As a Development Engineer, you will assess development applications and provide engineering advice to support sustainable growth and development within the community.
You will manage a range of development and post-consent approvals, review engineering designs and plans, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and Council requirements. Working closely with applicants, and internal stakeholders, you will help deliver high-quality development outcomes while providing exceptional customer service and technical guidance.

What you will be doing:
- Assess and provide technical engineering advice on Development Applications, including reviewing plans, preparing reports, and recommending engineering conditions of consent.
- Manage Development Applications through the assessment process, including preparing recommendations for approval or refusal and reporting to decision-making authorities.
- Evaluate subdivision and post-consent approvals, including Works Certificates, Subdivision Certificates, and related engineering and compliance approvals.
- Undertake environmental and engineering assessments for a range of urban and rural developments, considering factors such as infrastructure, stormwater, biodiversity, bushfire and land-related risks.
- Collaborate with applicants, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders by providing technical advice at pre-lodgement meetings, inspections, and other development-related forums.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and standards while delivering responsive customer service and resolving development-related enquiries.
What are we seeking in our new team member:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or equivalent degree
- White Card - General Construction Induction
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Knowledge of engineering principals and ability to review plans against Australian Standards, Design and Construction Specifications and provide practical solutions.
- Well developed interpersonal,
communication and customer service skills to liaise with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
