Role: Principal Enterprise Architect / EA Lead – Australian Government Enterprise Architecture Uplift
Location: Australia / Canberra or remote-hybrid subject to client requirements
Engagement: Contract
Security Clearance: Australian Citizenship mandatory. Current Baseline or higher security clearance highly desirable.
Master2Manage is seeking an experienced Principal Enterprise Architect / Enterprise Architecture Lead for a potential Australian Government enterprise architecture capability uplift engagement.
This is a senior architecture leadership role focused on establishing and maturing an enterprise-wide architecture capability connecting government strategy,
business capabilities, technology, investment and workforce planning.
The successful candidate will provide overall architecture leadership across enterprise architecture operating model design, architecture governance, capability-based planning, current and future-state architecture and technology roadmapping.
Key responsibilities
Lead the overall Enterprise Architecture direction and architecture integrity of the engagement.
Assess and mature existing Enterprise Architecture governance frameworks, processes and artefacts.
Define an implementable unified Enterprise Architecture operating model.
Establish/refine architecture governance forums, decision rights, approval pathways and escalation arrangements.
Define how Enterprise Architecture engages across strategy, investment, discovery, design, delivery and assurance.
Lead capability-based architecture and business capability modelling.
Connect government strategy and business outcomes with applications, platforms, infrastructure and workforce requirements.
Guide current-state and target-state architecture development.
Lead architecture options analysis and executive-level architecture recommendations.
Contribute to technology investment and transition roadmaps.
Facilitate executive and senior stakeholder workshops.
Oversee architecture quality assurance and peer review.
Mentor and work alongside internal architects, supporting progressive knowledge transfer.
Ensure architecture outcomes align with relevant Australian Government and departmental architecture standards.
Essential experience
Candidates should demonstrate substantial experience in:
Enterprise Architecture leadership in complex organisations.
Enterprise Architecture capability uplift and maturity improvement.
Enterprise Architecture operating model design.
Architecture governance and decision-making frameworks.
Capability-based architecture and capability modelling.
Current-state, target-state and transition architecture.
Technology portfolio and strategic roadmapping.
Architecture assurance and governance forums.
Executive stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
Development of decision-ready architecture artefacts.
Recognised Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and/or Zachman.
Architecture modelling/documentation tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Visio or equivalent.
Highly desirable:
Significant experience within Australian Government/Commonwealth agencies.
Practical experience with the Australian Government Architecture (AGA) Domain and Capability Model.
Experience supporting government digital investment planning.
Previous delivery of a comparable Enterprise Architecture capability uplift.
TOGAF certification.
Current Australian Government Baseline, NV1 or higher security clearance.
