Role Description The Experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner is a full-time or part time depending on worker needs, hybrid role based in Melbourne, VIC. The practitioner will conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments, develop and implement behaviour support plans, and provide ongoing monitoring and review. Day-to-day work includes collaborating with participants, families, carers, and support teams to build capacity, share strategies, and enhance existing resources.
The role also involves documenting progress, maintaining accurate case notes, and ensuring practice aligns with relevant legislation, standards, and best-practice guidelines. The practitioner will participate in regular supervision and professional development to maintain high-quality, ethical service delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in functional behaviour assessment, behavioural analysis, and development of evidence-based behaviour support plans.
- Experience in collaborative practice with participants, families, carers, support coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to deliver high-quality behavioural interventions aimed at reducing risk of harm and increasing community and service access.
- Proficiency in professional documentation, report writing, and maintaining accurate case notes and records.
- Sound knowledge of relevant disability and behavioural support frameworks, standards, and ethical practice requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills, with the ability to work respectfully with diverse participants and support networks.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, behavioural science, or related discipline, with substantial experience in behaviour support.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with relevant qualified bodies and clearance for working with vulnerable populations, as required.
- Capacity to work independently, manage a caseload within a defined service radius, and participate in supervision and ongoing professional development.
