The Opportunity

Appoint has partnered with a leading engineering consultancy to recruit a Lead Power Systems Engineer / Team Leader for their Queensland Energy team. This is a genuine leadership opportunity, combining technical leadership, team development, client engagement and business growth. You'll lead a team working across renewable generation, battery storage and hybrid projects connecting into the National Electricity Market (NEM). You'll provide technical direction on complex grid connection projects while helping develop the capability of the wider Power Systems team.

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Power Systems team
- Provide technical leadership across grid connection and power system studies
- Oversee modelling using PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory and OEM models
- Support clients with connection strategy, GPS, system strength and NEM requirements
- Work across renewable generation, BESS and hybrid projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and advisory teams




- Contribute to business development and long-term client relationships
- Help grow the team through strategic recruitment and developing internal talent

About You

We're looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer ready to take the next step into a genuine leadership position.

You’ll Ideally Bring

- Significant Power Systems, grid connection or related energy experience
- Experience with PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory or equivalent
- Strong understanding of Generator Performance Standards (GPS) and NER Chapter 5
- Experience across renewable generation, BESS or other generation assets
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills
- An Electrical Engineering degree and RPEQ, or willingness to obtain

Experience within a consultancy, NSP, utility, renewable developer or generation workplace will be highly regarded.
