About the position
The School Based Traineeship is part of the Futures@Wanneroo Employment Programs and provides 2027 Year 11 students with an entry-level pathway into local government. Over 18 months, trainees work part time across the City while continuing their studies in Years 11 and 12, gaining practical workplace experience, building confidence and developing skills for future employment.
Trainees work one day per week (Thursday), which contributes towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), and complete the nationally recognised PSP20122 Certificate II in Government. They will gain an introduction to working in local government and develop foundation skills in workplace communications, administration, teamwork, customer service and public sector responsibilities.
About you
We are looking for motivated 2027 Year 11 students who are interested in learning about local government, developing workplace skills and contributing to the community. You will be curious, reliable, willing to learn and comfortable working with different people across a professional workplace.
This opportunity is suited to students who can commit to working one day per week (Thursday) while completing Years 11 and 12 and working towards the Certificate II in Government.
