Where you'll be working
Northern Beaches Hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, a state-of-the-art theatre complex, world-class education centre, and excellent staff facilities including café and secure on site car parking. Northern Beaches Hospital has a wide range of services that can help you build a healthcare career in your chosen field.
DOSA is located on the first floor of NBH and is a 40 bed ward. The hours are typically 6am to 9pm, Monday to Friday working 8 hour shifts.
What you'll be doing
As a nurse in the Day of Surgery (DOSA) ward at Northern Beaches Hospital you are responsible for preparing patients for their upcoming procedures, including completing pre-operative assessments, confirming consent, and ensuring all documentation and checklists are accurate. You will provide patient education, coordinate with theatre and anaesthetic teams, and ensure patients are ready for transfer to the operating suite on time. The role also involves clinical monitoring, addressing patient concerns, and supporting efficient theatre flow in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
You will support a culture of continuous learning, teamwork and innovation, and contributes to service excellence through participation in quality improvement initiatives, education, research and accreditation activities, while maintaining skilled competency standards and compliance with NSW Health and NSLHD policies and procedures. You will work with a variety of cases, both planed and unplanned; your critical thinking skills are strong!
