BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER
The role
As part of Saab Australia's Strategy Organisation, the Business Improvement Manager leads strategic and operational improvement initiatives that deliver measurable business outcomes. Reporting to the Head of Business Improvement, the role partners with leaders across the business to improve performance, capability, processes, technology and ways of working.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Lead business improvement projects from prospect identification through to benefits realisation
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement to solve complex business challenges
- Apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques
- Coach leaders and teams in business improvement practices
- Develop business cases, performance measures and improvement roadmaps
- Build organisational capability through training, mentoring and practical support
- Contribute to Saab Australia's broader transformation and growth objectives
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role. Applicants must be flexible in meeting the needs of business, including face to face activities and in-office attendance.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- Significant hands-on experience leading business improvement initiatives in complex organisations
- Proven success improving operational performance, productivity and business outcomes
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints or similar improvement approaches
- Experience influencing stakeholders and leading change across all organisational levels
- Excellent facilitation, communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, supported by data-driven decision making
- Experience within Defence, manufacturing, engineering, software or other complex technical environments
This role will suit an experienced BI practitioner who has personally led and delivered business improvement outcomes in operational environments as their substantive role. We are seeking someone who combines technical improvement expertise with strong emotional intelligence, sound judgement,
and the ability to build trust and influence change across diverse stakeholder groups. Experience in Defence, manufacturing, engineering, software development, or other complex operational environments is highly regarded.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
