Senior Asset Engineer - Permanent Full Time - Perth CBD
Responsible for leading and applying best practice asset management strategies to deliver optimal life cycle performance for primary and secondary assets. This includes the development and application of maintenance standards, condition and life assessment and risk mitigation strategies, and the preparation of work plans.
- Define and document best practice asset management standards through applying subject matter engineering expertise
- Provide optimal technical solutions, technical advice and problem solving on the nominated asset(s)
- Assess and manage asset risks in line with Western Power and regulatory obligations
Role in Action:
- Support and lead asset management initiatives that optimise maintenance programs, manage network risk contributing to reliability, safety, and resilience of critical electricity infrastructure.
- Deliver risk-based maintenance and inspection programs across Western Power's distribution network, ensuring regulatory, operational and customer outcomes are achieved.
- Drive asset performance through condition assessments, technical investigations and data-driven decision making.
- Identify, assess and manage asset risks, translating technical insights into practical work programs and investment recommendations.
- Influence OPEX and CAPEX investment planning by developing prudent, efficient and evidence-based maintenance and asset replacement programs.
- Provide senior technical leadership on complex asset issues, including asset failures, root cause investigations, emerging risks and network performance challenges.
- Support the integration and optimisation of emerging technologies, including Stand-alone Power Systems (SPS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Collaborate with operational,
engineering and external stakeholders to deliver network outcomes safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Champion safety, continuous improvement and engineering excellence while mentoring and supporting the development of engineering capability within the team.

What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Eligible for Professional Engineer membership (MIEAust) with Engineers Australia.
- Significant engineering industry experience (10+ years), preferably in operations, maintenance or asset management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and technical writing skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in power utility Industry (electrical and renewable) - operations, maintenance, asset management or related engineering disciplines.
- Strong asset management and risk management experience with a focus on reliability, compliance and asset performance.
- Ability to translate complex technical issues into practical business and investment decisions.
- Demonstrated technical expertise combined with sound risk management and governance knowledge.
- Understand of the broader business context and ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
