About the role

Silverthorne Earthmoving is seeking an experienced GPS dozer and grader operator to join our team in Kalgoorlie, WA. This is a casual position offering flexibility whilst contributing to significant earthmoving and site preparation projects across the region. You will be operating advanced GPS-enabled machinery to ensure precise grading and site development work. This role is essential to maintaining our high standards of accuracy and efficiency on site, and you will work independently as well as collaboratively with our broader earthmoving team.

Key responsibilities

- Operate GPS-equipped dozers and graders with precision to achieve specified site grades and specifications

- Interpret project plans and GPS data to complete earthmoving tasks accurately and efficiently

- Conduct pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on machinery to ensure secure working condition

- Maintain clear communication with site supervisors, engineers and other team members regarding project progress and any site issues

- Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations and company standards on site

- Operate machinery in varying terrain and weather conditions across Western Australian sites

- Monitor and record GPS readings and grade achievements to maintain accurate project documentation

- Perform routine machinery maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly

What we're looking for

- Extensive experience operating dozers and graders, with proven proficiency in GPS-guided machinery

- Current Heavy Machinery (Dozer/Grader) licence or equivalent certification

- Working knowledge of GPS grading systems and ability to read and interpret digital grade data

- Strong understanding of construction site safety standards and best practice earthmoving procedures

- Excellent mechanical aptitude with ability to identify and troubleshoot machinery issues

- Reliable, professional work ethic with strong attendance and punctuality





- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote or regional sites

- Valid Australian driver's licence

- Willingness to obtain site-specific induction and safety certifications as required

Preferred experience

- Experience in mining, civil construction or major earthworks projects

- Familiarity with various GPS systems and grade control software

- Previous casual or contract work in regional Western Australia

- Additional tickets such as rigid dump truck or other heavy vehicle operations
