The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager – Planning, the Manager – Resource Development is responsible for leading the company's resource development activities, ensuring the timely delivery of land access, mining tenure, environmental approvals, and development studies required to support mine expansion and associated infrastructure projects.
This is a key leadership role requiring strong technical capability, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively engage with government agencies, landholders, consultants and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, planning and execution of resource development activities across the business.
- Manage land tenure, land access, and associated stakeholder engagement to support current and future mining operations.
- Lead the preparation, submission, and management of applications for mining tenure and associated statutory approvals.
- Manage environmental approvals and ensure compliance with Queensland and Commonwealth regulatory requirements.
- Oversee development studies associated with mine expansion, infrastructure projects, and future resource opportunities.
- Coordinate and manage external consultants to deliver high-quality technical studies and approval documentation.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with government departments, regulators, local authorities, and industry stakeholders.
- Provide strategic advice to the Executive Team on approval pathways, project risks, and development opportunities.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess their impact on the business’s development strategy.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and risks to ensure approvals are delivered on time and within budget.
About You
You are an experienced resource development professional who has successfully navigated complex mining approval processes and enjoys working across technical, commercial and stakeholder interfaces.
You will bring:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in resource development, mining approvals, environmental planning, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated success independently delivering major mining approvals from concept through to approval.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary consultants and technical specialists to deliver complex approval packages.
- Extensive experience engaging with Queensland Government agencies, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of Queensland's mining tenure framework, environmental approval processes, and relevant legislation for coal mining developments.
- Robust project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, engineering, geology, planning, natural resources, or a related discipline.
