About Lort Smith
Lort Smith is Australia’s largest charitable animal hospital, with over 16,000 animals receiving our care, every year. Our purpose is to keep pets and people together by providing accessible, compassionate care and championing the powerful impact of the human animal bond.

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Philanthropy Manager to build on our established base of generous major donors and grow the philanthropic support that makes our mission possible. You’ll carefully steward and deepen relationships with existing major donors, while bringing a strong focus to prospecting, lead generation and developing a healthy pipeline of new philanthropic supporters. With support from the Key Relationships Lead, who manages our mid-level giving program and supports major giving activity, you’ll create clear pathways to identify, cultivate and grow the next generation of major donors to Lort Smith.

About You
You are an experienced philanthropy or major gifts professional with a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and create new fundraising opportunities.
You are commercially minded, proactive and strategic, with the confidence to engage with high-net-worth individuals, senior leaders, executives and Board members. You know that successful philanthropy is built on strong relationships, thoughtful engagement and a genuine understanding of what matters to both the donor and the organisation.

You will bring:

- Demonstrated experience in major gifts and philanthropy.
- A proven ability to build trusted relationships with high-net-worth individuals, senior stakeholders or other significant supporters.
- Strong prospecting and business development capability, with the ability to identify and develop new opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Confidence leading significant gift conversations and engaging senior stakeholders.

- Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to develop persuasive proposals, cases for support and donor communications.
- Strong commercial judgement and strategic thinking.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience coaching or managing others.
- Solid organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage a complex portfolio and competing priorities.
- A high level of integrity, professionalism and resilience.
- A genuine alignment with Lort Smith’s purpose and commitment to respectful, donor-centred fundraising.

Why Join Lort Smith?
This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of not only pets in need - through caring for the pet, you will also help the people who love them.
You will join a purpose-driven organisation where compassion, collaboration, accessibility, respect and ethical practice are central to how we work. You will have the opportunity to shape and grow Lort Smith’s philanthropic program and build relationships that directly support accessible, compassionate veterinary care and the wellbeing of people and pets in our community.
At Lort Smith, our values guide us in everything we do. We are Together, C.A.R.E.:
