About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Customer Service & Libraries, the Coordinator Library Services leads and coordinates the delivery of specialist library services across our branches, outreach settings and mobile services. A key focus of this role is providing strong people leadership to a diverse team.
Working closely with the Coordinator Branch Libraries, you will play an important role in ensuring our Library service is connected, collaborative and responsive to changing community needs.
You will lead a team responsible for a diverse range of services, including library programs and events, children's and youth services, outreach activities, digital services and technology initiatives. You will also build partnerships with community organisations, education providers and other stakeholders to extend the reach and impact of our Library service.
Success in this role requires a leader who can balance people management, operational service delivery and strategic thinking. You will be comfortable leading across multiple service locations, developing team capability, managing performance and driving continuous improvement, while ensuring services remain responsive to the changing needs of our communities.
We are looking for someone who can balance day-to-day service delivery with thinking about what comes next for our libraries and the communities they serve.
This position may be required to work across multiple library branches and service locations to support operational requirements. The role operates within a 35-hour roster that may be scheduled across Monday to Sunday in accordance with the applicable Award and includes the requirement to participate in Saturday rostering.
To succeed in this role you will have:
- Degree qualifications in Library and Information Studies or a related field, with eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
- Significant experience working as a librarian, including experience delivering programs or events.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Strong people leadership skills and the ability to build positive, collaborative working relationships.
- A community-focused approach and an interest in developing library services that are accessible, inclusive, and responsive.
- The ability to coordinate competing priorities, people and resources while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
- An interest in innovation, emerging technology, and contemporary library practice.
- A Drivers licence
On a typical day this role will:
- Lead, coach and support the Library Services team.
- Coordinate library programs, events, outreach, digital services, technology initiatives and children's and youth service functions.
- Work collaboratively with the Coordinator Branch Libraries and Manager Customer Service & Libraries to coordinate service delivery across the library network.
- Plan and coordinate staffing, rosters, leave and workloads to maintain service continuity.
- Work with community organisations, education providers and stakeholders to develop partnerships and opportunities.
- Review customer feedback, service performance and program outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of recent services, technology, and contemporary library practices.
- Contribute to broader Library planning and help shape the future direction of the service.
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week
Salary (exclusive of super): Starting in the range of $101,015 to $113,067 depending on skills and experience
