At Banksia Palliative Care Service (Banksia), our vision is that every person accesses and receives exceptional, personalised palliative care support at the right time and in the right place.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Grief and Bereavement Counsellor to join our multi-disciplinary team. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support clients, carers and families experiencing grief, loss, adjustment, and bereavement associated with life-limiting illness.

About the role:

In this rewarding role, you will provide compassionate counselling, emotional support and education to clients, carers and families experiencing grief, loss and adjustment related to a life-limiting illness and bereavement.

You will conduct bereavement risk assessments, develop and implement individualised care plans, and support clients and carers to develop effective coping strategies. The role also involves connecting families with appropriate community resources and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary palliative care team to promote holistic, family-centred care.

This is a permanent part-time position, working two days per week (0.4 EFT).

The successful candidate will hold:

- A Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or other relevant areas and post graduate qualifications and extensive experience in loss and grief.

- Advanced skills in grief and bereavement counselling and group facilitation in a client-centred workplace.

- Competence in providing grief and bereavement education.

- Knowledge of, and experience in, delivering culturally appropriate loss and grief intervention strategies for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) clients.

- Skills in psychosocial and loss and grief assessment and care planning in the palliative care arena.

- A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience.

- While not essential, experience in community-based organisations is highly regarded.

You are an empathetic and experienced professional with a passion for supporting people through loss and transition. You bring strong counselling skills, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to person-centred care.

Requirements:

The successful applicant will:

- Undertake and successfully complete a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

- Hold a current and unrestricted Driver's Licence.

- Have the legal right to work in Australia on an ongoing basis, with no restrictions on hours worked.
