Bright Cubs Academy is a newly opened 92-place early learning centre in Oakleigh South, and we are looking for a friendly and reliable Cook/Chef to join our growing team.
As a new centre, this is a great opportunity for someone who would like to grow with us and help shape our kitchen, menus and mealtime experiences from the beginning.
Previous childcare cooking experience is preferred. We are also happy to hear from cooks with relevant kitchen experience who are interested in moving into the early childhood sector.
What you'll be doing:
Preparing fresh, nutritious and child-friendly meals and snacks
Following our centre menu and contributing recent menu ideas
Catering for allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements, including vegetarian and vegan options
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen
Following food safety requirements and maintaining relevant records
Managing food stock, rotation and ordering
Working closely with educators and management regarding children's dietary needs
Supporting positive and enjoyable mealtime experiences for our children
About you:
Experience working as a cook or chef
Childcare/early learning cooking experience is highly regarded, but not essential
Valuable understanding of food safety and hygiene
Confident catering for allergies and special dietary requirements
Reliable, organised and able to work independently
Warm, positive and comfortable working in an early childhood environment
Willing to contribute ideas and grow with our centre
