About The CHANCE
We have recent opportunities for Mechanical (Fitter) Apprentices to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program – Test and Commissioning Team based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard — one of the most digitally advanced naval shipyards in the world. We are now accepting applications for our 2027 apprenticeship program, commencing in February. It’s an exciting time to join us and a great place to start a career in shipbuilding. As a Mechanical (Fitter) Apprentice you will gain practical experience while in the shipyard, while completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Fitting Trade.
Responsibilities
This is a challenging and exciting opportunity which will develop your skills to become an extremely versatile Mechanical Fitting tradesperson. Working in a state-of-the‑art workshop or on the ship with a excellent team, your responsibilities will include:
Working with the latest mechanical machinery and technology available in the defence industry
Assist with removing, repairing and installing mechanical components and equipment
Participate in preventative and corrective maintenance tasks
Use workshop machines to produce components
Applying health and safety processes in the workplace
Contributing to improving business culture with regards to people, process and systems
