About us

Quality Hotel Parklake is Shepparton’s leading full-service hotel, with accommodation, a restaurant, and a busy conferencing and events operation. Our kitchen serves à la carte dining, functions, and events across the property. We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis.

The role

Reporting to the kitchen and venue management team, you will plan, prepare, and present high-quality food across our restaurant and events service. Your responsibilities will include:
Planning menus and preparing and cooking food to a consistent standard for restaurant, functions, and events service
Determining how food is presented and creating attractive plating and displays
Estimating food and labour costs and ordering supplies
Monitoring food quality, portion control, and stock rotation
Enforcing food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards (including HACCP)
Discussing menu and food preparation matters with management and kitchen staff
Demonstrating techniques and advising and supervising kitchen staff during service
Maintaining kitchen records and assisting with rostering as required

Skills and experience required




A relevant qualification in commercial cookery (e.g. Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery) or Diploma that harbours commercial cookery subjects or equivalent experience
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or high-volume kitchen
Proven ability to plan menus, manage food costs, and maintain quality under pressure
Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to lead and coordinate kitchen staff during service
Solid reliability, teamwork, and communication skills
Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
