About the role

Happy Tails Grooming is a busy, growing salon in Canberra's north, built on calm, low-stress grooming and a genuine love of dogs. We're looking for an experienced, hardworking groomer to join our team, someone who wants to be part of a growing salon.

Key responsibilities
Full range of grooming knowledge: bathing, all basic and breed-specific grooms, de-shedding, and specialty styling.
Working with a variety of breeds and temperaments, including anxious or reactive dogs.
Taking a whole-dog approach to grooming, thinking beyond the cut to each dog's comfort, stress levels, and long-term relationship with grooming.
Helping educate pet parents on coat care, home maintenance, and how to support their dog's comfort with grooming.
Confident, respectful client communication, including having the harder conversations when a dog's coat condition, behaviour, or health needs require it.

About you
Minimum 2+ years' qualified grooming experience (salon or mobile)
Hardworking and reliable, someone who pulls their weight and shows up for the team
Confident handling a wide range of breeds and sizes, including large/robust dogs
Has a calm, patient approach,



especially with nervous or reactive dogs
Genuine interest in improving each dog's individual experience, not just technical output
Comfortable communicating honestly with pet parents, even when it's a difficult conversation, always with the dog's best interest front and centre
Comfortable operating check-in and check-out procedures
A team player who wants to contribute to a supportive, calm culture
