The Team

Comprises of four palliative care consultants, and currently two other palliative care registrars. The medical practitioners work across the MCH and NWRH, as well as the community, alongside palliative care nursing staff.

The Palliative

Care in Service is an inpatient ward area with four beds located in the MCH. This is part of the broader Specialist Palliative Care Service, which is based at Parkside in Burnie.
The North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) is a contemporary facility that provides acute care facilities for residents of the North West region of Tasmania. It is a University Teaching Hospital for the Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated Registrar –

Palliative Care.

In this role, on a day

-to-day basis you will be responsible for liaising and collaborating with other treating clinicians for both public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital, Aged Care and Community settings.

The Rural Generalist Palliative Care Registrar position is accredited by the GP colleges and Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
12 months Advanced Specialised Training term in Palliative Care to train registrars on all ACRRM pathways.

Accredited in 2023 with a site visit.
ACRRM Registrars can also do 6 months training as Foundations in Palliative Medicine (previously Diploma of Palliative Medicine).
Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
6 months Extended Skills training and 12 months Advanced Skills training.

Rural

Generalist training is also accredited
