What You'll Get to Experience
As an Action Trades & Apprenticeships Carpentry Apprentice, you'll have the opportunity to work with experienced tradespeople and gain practical experience across a range of construction projects, including:
New home construction

Renovations and extensions

Commercial construction

Framing and structural carpentry

Roofing and external construction

Fit-out and finishing work

Our goal is to help you develop abroad range of carpentry skillsthroughout your apprenticeship so you can become a confident and capable tradesperson.
As you progress through your apprenticeship, you'll learn to:
Construct wall and ceiling frames

Construct pitched roofs and eaves

Build external stairs

Lay sub-floors and floorboards

Install fascia and external cladding

Construct door and window frames

Build concrete formwork

Use a wide range of hand and power tools

Read and interpret building plans

Take levels and measurements

Complete building calculations

Follow construction plans and specifications

Work safely as part of a construction team

What We're Looking For




We're looking for people who are genuinely interested in building a career in carpentry and construction.
To be considered, you should:
Have a genuine interest in carpentry and the construction industry

Be reliable, punctual and willing to learn

Be physically fit and comfortable working in a construction environment

Be able to follow instructions and take direction

Have a strong attitude towards workplace safety

Be self-motivated and willing to work as part of a team

Have good attention to detail

Hold a current driver's licence and have reliable transport

Hold a White Card, or be willing to obtain one

Have a Certificate I or II in Construction (advantageous)

Have previous construction experience (advantageous)

Most importantly, we're looking for the right attitude.You don't need to know everything when you start — we're looking for people who are willing to turn up, work hard, listen, learn and build their skills.
