About the Role
Do you have a passion for protecting the workplace and preserving our urban forest?
We're looking for a proactive and motivated Tree Compliance Officer to join our Tree Management team.
As development continues across the City of Ryde, you'll play an important role in protecting trees and ensuring compliance with tree protection requirements associated with development approvals.
This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to work across a variety of sites, investigating unauthorised tree works, monitoring development compliance, and working with developers, contractors, residents and other stakeholders to achieve positive environmental outcomes.
Your work will directly contribute to maintaining and enhancing Ryde's valuable urban canopy for future generations.
About You
You are a professional and community-focused compliance officer who enjoys working in the field and solving complex issues.




Passionate about environmental protection, you have strong investigation skills and a practical approach to compliance and enforcement.
You'll work closely with teams across Council, including Planning, Building Compliance and Parks, to investigate reports, gather evidence, educate stakeholders and support positive compliance outcomes.
Your ability to build relationships, communicate effectively and apply legislation will be key to your success.

What You'll Be Doing
Help protect and grow Ryde's urban forest
through proactive compliance and education.
Investigate unauthorised tree works
and support positive environmental outcomes.
Work across a variety of development sites
, engaging with developers, contractors and residents.
Lead compliance activities
, including inspections, investigations and enforcement actions.
Promote best-practice tree protection
and help preserve Ryde's tree canopy for future generations.
In addition, you will also have:
Qualifications in Arboriculture, Environmental Management, Compliance, Planning, Local Government or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in compliance, investigations, environmental regulation or local government.
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory processes.
Strong investigation and evidence-gathering skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A Class C Driver Licence.
Your commencing annual salary will range from
$99,****** to $118,****** + Leaseback + Superannuation
dependent on your experience and qualifications.
