Job Description: As a Team Leader – Impairment Benefits, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of a team managing impairment benefit claims.
You will oversee workflow, support quality and timely decision-making, manage complex matters and ensure the team delivers against business and WorkSafe objectives.
You will provide strong people leadership through coaching, development and performance management, while fostering a positive, accountable and high-performing team environment.
You will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex matters, manage escalations and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and WorkSafe requirements.
The successful candidate will have a robust understanding of workers compensation, impairment benefits and the legislation and guidelines that underpin the assessment and management of these claims.
You will be confident making decisions on complex matters and interpreting medical and legislative information.
Your resilience, leadership, analytical thinking and communication skills will be key to successfully managing competing priorities, supporting your team and delivering positive outcomes for injured workers and stakeholders.
Required Skills
Demonstrated leadership, coaching and people management experience
Experience managing impairment benefit claims or complex workers compensation matters
Strong decision-making and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret medical and legislative information
Excellent negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
Ability to motivate, empower and develop a high-performing team
Strong customer service and communication skills
Sound understanding of WorkSafe Victoria claims management processes and requirements
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Strong focus on quality, compliance and continuous improvement
Required Expertise
Demonstrated people management experience within workers compensation or claims management
Experience in impairment benefits, liability or complex claims will be highly regarded
Strong knowledge of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and associated regulations and guidelines
Understanding of current WorkSafe Victoria requirements, impairment benefit processes and claims management practices
Experience coaching and developing team members to achieve operational and performance outcomes
