Working on supply allows a Secondary Supply Teacher to experience a range of classrooms, teach across different subjects and year groups, and maintain flexibility while ensuring continuity of learning.

Duties as Secondary Supply Teacher:
Deliver pre-planned lessons confidently across a range of secondary subjects
Maintain a positive, safe, and well-managed classroom environment
Follow school behaviour policies, routines, and safeguarding procedures
Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities
Manage classroom behaviour effectively to ensure continuity of learning
Engage pupils and keep them focused throughout the school day
Support pupils' learning and progress during each placement
Provide clear feedback and handover notes for permanent staff
Represent Class Act professionally while working as a Secondary Supply Teacher
Ideal Secondary Supply Teacher:
Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching in a secondary school setting
Confidence working with pupils across KS3 and KS4
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
A flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach to supply teaching
Good communication skills and a professional attitude
Willingness to work across different school environments
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
A positive and proactive approach as a Secondary Supply Teacher
