Roles and Responsibilities
Lead SQL Server and MySQL operations covering availability, backup/recovery, patching, capacity and performance management.
Own database monitoring, alert triage, job failure management, index/statistics maintenance and recurring issue reduction.
Manage high availability configurations such as Always On, clustering/replication where applicable, and coordinate DR testing.
Oversee incident, change, problem, service request and release activities in line with agreed SLA/KPIs.
Coordinate with application, storage, backup, server and security teams for end‐to‐end issue resolution.
Review SQL changes, upgrade/patch plans, rollback plans and operational risk controls.
Provide customer‐facing operational updates on database health, risks, capacity and improvement actions.
Maintain runbooks, SOPs, known error database and KT artefacts for transition and steady‐state operations.
Ensure CMDB accuracy, operational compliance, audit evidence and standard reporting are maintained.
Coach L1/L2/L3 colleagues and provide escalation support during critical incidents.
Support RFP/estimate inputs for SQL/MySQL database run services.
Drive automation for database health checks, repetitive service requests, reporting and dashboarding.
Essential
Lead 8-10 DBAs across onsite/offshore operations.
Should be able to work with colleagues from different cultures and drive L1/L2/L3 colleagues.
Experience in running operations with ITIL processes / ITIL certification preferred.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong ownership during P1/P2 incidents.
Strong verbal and written communication; able to interact with customer, tower leads and offshore teams.
Ability to identify service improvements, automation opportunities, incident reduction and knowledge reuse.
Willingness and flexibility to learn new technologies, scale up quickly and adapt to transition needs.
Preferred
Microsoft SQL Server administration, MySQL administration, backup/recovery, high availability, performance tuning, patching, monitoring and incident/change/problem management
Windows/Linux administration
Always On/Failover Clustering, SSIS/SSRS/SSAS, PowerShell automation, OEM/Nagios/ELK/Splunk monitoring, ServiceNow ITSM, cloud database operations on AWS/Azure/GCP
ADDITIONAL
