Role Description
Are you passionate about leading transformative technology strategies?
We're looking for an Oracle Database Administrator to join our team.
Lead 8-10 DBAs and coordinate with application, infrastructure, storage and backup teams.
Should be able to work with colleagues from different cultures and drive L1/L2/L3 colleagues.
Location: Sydney, Australia
Salary: AUD 108,*********,893 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities
Lead Oracle database and Exadata operations for Sydney-based customer environment, including availability, performance and recoverability.
Own Oracle RAC/Data Guard, Exadata cell/storage monitoring, OEM alerts, RMAN backup coordination and patch governance.
Oversee database incident, change, problem, service request, release and maintenance activities aligned to ITIL processes.
Manage SQL performance tuning, capacity, space management, housekeeping and availability improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with backup/storage/server teams for RMAN, restore validation, DR testing and RCA activities.
Review and approve database changes, patch plans, rollback plans and operational risk mitigation actions.
Conduct customer governance forums covering availability, batch performance, recurring issues and service improvements.
Maintain SOPs, runbooks, known error database and transition knowledge documents.
Ensure CMDB/configuration accuracy and compliance with security, audit and operational controls.
Coach L1/L2/L3 colleagues and provide technical guidance during Major Incident or escalation scenarios.
Support RFP/solution estimates for Oracle/Exadata run and transformation scope.
Drive automation for OEM alert handling, health checks, patch reporting and operational dashboards.
Essential




Experience in running operations with ITIL processes / ITIL certification preferred.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong ownership during P1/P2 incidents.
Strong verbal and written communication; able to interact with customer, tower leads and offshore teams.
Ability to identify service improvements, automation opportunities, incident reduction and knowledge reuse.
Willingness and flexibility to learn new technologies, scale up quickly and adapt to transition needs.
Preferred
Mandatory: Oracle Database Administration, Oracle Exadata, OEM, RMAN, Data Guard/RAC, performance tuning, patching, and backup/recovery.
Intermediate Level: Linux/Unix Administration.
