Established in ****, Youth Focus delivers innovative and accessible mental health services and programs across WA to help young people aged 12 to 25.
A key component of this is our role as the lead agency for five headspace Centres, including headspace Geraldton Centre, located on Southern Yamatji country.
Youth Focus is looking for a Senior Vocational Specialist to join our Geraldton team!
Permanent, part time | 0.8 FTE
This position commences ASAP
About the Role
Reporting to the Regional Manager, this position will provide youth friendly vocational support to young people accessing the Geraldton Youth Hub.
Key responsibilities include:
Work with a caseload of up to 20 young people, supporting their entry or return to employment and/or education by assessing their individual vocational support needs
Train, supervise, and provide guidance and professional day-to-day support to reporting IPS Specialist(s)
Provide support to young people with job searching, job applications and interview preparation.
Educate and advocate for the IPS service and service delivery model to internal and external stakeholders
Provide individualised on-going support to young people once they have secured education or employment to assist them in sustaining placement
Proactively engage and work with employers to create employment opportunities for young people experiencing mental health issues
Build and maintain relationships with l local employers,
training agencies, education providers and health professionals
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as youth work, employment services, social work or other health related disciplines
Demonstrated experience in a similar vocational specialist role (experience within healthcare or community service is desirable)
Demonstrated experience providing supervision and guidance to staff to achieve program outcomes
Well-developed interpersonal skills ensuring friendly and welcoming experiences for stakeholders, whilst maintaining professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Outlook and willingness to learn new software/programs as needed
Capacity to work with complex and confidential matters in a discrete and sensitive manner
Must possess a deep understanding and appreciation for diversity within the workforce and within our client and stakeholder base
'C' Class Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
