Do you enjoy mentoring others, coordinating workshop operations and ensuring plant and fleet assets are maintained to the highest standards?
Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our mechanical workshop and play a critical role in keeping Council's fleet, heavy plant and equipment safe, reliable and operational.
This is a hands-on leadership prospect where you'll combine your technical expertise with team supervision, planning, safety and operational coordination.
About the Role Reporting to the Team Leader Fleet and Workshop, you will coordinate workshop activities that support a diverse fleet of heavy plant, trucks, light vehicles and associated equipment.
You'll provide leadership and technical guidance to workshop employees and apprentices while ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key responsibilities include: Coordinating daily, weekly and monthly maintenance programs Supervising workshop staff and apprentices Scheduling servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance activities Managing workshop inventory, parts and consumables Monitoring fleet availability and minimising downtime Ensuring compliance with safety, legislative and quality standards Supporting internal stakeholders with timely and professional service Driving continuous improvement across workshop operations and maintenance practices.
About You You are a practical leader who enjoys developing people, solving problems and delivering quality outcomes.
To be successful, you will bring: A trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent Strong experience in mechanical workshop operations and maintenance environments Demonstrated experience supervising staff or leading workshop activities Knowledge of heavy plant, trucks, light fleet and associated equipment Experience coordinating servicing and preventative maintenance programs Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements within workshop environments Experience using fleet maintenance or workshop management systems Strong communication, organisational and customer service skills A current Victorian Driver Licence Ready to Take the Lead?
