Diverse projects ranging from $100K fit-outs to $40M developments Approx.
70% documentation | 30% design Take ownership of projects from concept to delivery Architectural Designer / Project Lead Diverse Projects | Autonomy Ownership | Work Independence Some architects enjoy large studios, highly structured teams and working on a small piece of a much larger project.
This is probably not that role.
We're recruiting for a growing architectural practice looking for an experienced Architectural Designer who enjoys taking ownership, working directly on projects from inception through delivery, and being trusted to get on with the job.
Their projects span commercial office fit-outs, industrial developments, large-format retail and residential townhouse projects, ranging from approximately $100K through to $40M.
Because they're a small practice, projects aren't divided into endless layers of management and production.
The right person will have the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle and become a genuine part of the decision-making process.
The Opportunity We're seeking someone with approximately 4+ years' experience who combines strong technical documentation ability with practical construction knowledge.
While there is a design component to the role, the reality is that most projects require thoughtful problem-solving, quality documentation and the ability to confidently see a project through.
You'll work closely with the Director, who remains actively involved in all projects, while having the autonomy to take ownership of your own work and project responsibilities.
Depending on your experience and capability, this may include managing projects from concept through documentation and delivery.
What Success Looks Like?
The person who succeeds in this role is likely someone who: Enjoys responsibility rather than hierarchy Takes pride in producing well-resolved documentation Understands how buildings are actually constructed Is comfortable working independently Can proactively solve problems without waiting to be directed Values quality over volume You may find this role particularly rewarding if you've reached a stage in your career where you'd like greater ownership of projects, broader exposure across the profession and a closer working relationship with the decision-maker.
Key Responsibilities Develop design solutions in response to client briefs Prepare and coordinate construction documentation Produce Revit and CAD documentation packages Assist in project delivery across multiple sectors Coordinate consultant information and project requirements Contribute to design development where required Take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables Skills Experience Essential Around 5+ years' experience within an architectural practice Very strong Drawing experience Robust Revit capability Strong AutoCAD capability Sound construction and documentation knowledge Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Australian working rights (Permanent Residency preferred) Desirable SketchUp Enscape Adobe Creative Suite Experience delivering projects across commercial, industrial or residential sectors Interested?
