LO-GO Appointments QLD , a niche Local Government recruitment agency, is assisting a Central Queensland Council located on the coastal fringe in the search for an experienced Technical Officer – Corridor Management for a six-month temporary assignment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical traffic management, compliance, permit assessment or civil infrastructure experience who enjoys a busy, varied role and applying established processes to achieve practical outcomes.
Working as part of a small Corridor Management team, you will assess applications and requests relating to works within the Council road reserve.
This is a busy, office-based role involving regular interaction with contractors, service providers, applicants, Council teams and members of the public.
Assignment details: Six-month temporary assignment Immediate start 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday Fully onsite on the Central Queensland coastal fringe Potential for extension About the role: You will be responsible for: Assessing Temporary Traffic Management applications for third-party works and events within the road reserve Assessing applications for private infrastructure, including private water lines and residential driveway and stormwater infrastructure Assessing Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes Assessing applications for the movement of heavy and over-dimensional vehicles on Council-controlled roads Providing technical advice regarding traffic management, routes, legislation, permits and road corridor requirements Reviewing turning templates and considering wide load interactions with Council infrastructure Liaising with utility providers, contractors, consultants,
applicants and other stakeholders Investigating and responding to non-compliant activities within the road reserve and escalating matters where required Responding to customer service requests and providing clear verbal and written information Supporting the Coordinator Corridor Management with larger projects impacting Council road reserves Maintaining accurate records and documentation relating to applications, permits and compliance matters About you: To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Practical experience in traffic management, particularly Traffic Management Implementation or Traffic Management Design Experience assessing applications, permits, traffic management plans or similar technical documentation An understanding of road corridor activities, temporary traffic management and relevant legislation and requirements Robust attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes and procedures The ability to assess information, exercise sound judgement and make recommendations Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including confidence dealing with members of the public and external service providers Previous local government, compliance, regulatory, civil infrastructure or road corridor experience is essential A formal engineering qualification is not essential for this assignment.
Council is particularly interested in candidates who bring practical traffic management and compliance experience and can apply that knowledge to the assessment of road reserve activities.
