Utilise your leadership expertise to provide support to the operations of the state-wide prison disability support service, the Prison Disability Support InitiativeFixed term, Full time Chance to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public ServiceVPS5 $116,413 - $140,849 - Salary plus superannuation.The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assistant Manager, to provide a critical role at Prison Disability Support Initiative within Offender Services, Corrections Victoria.About the Business UnitThe Offender Services and Reintegration division of Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible forproviding best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including casemanagement, education, employment, and transition and reintegration supports.
The Rehabilitationand Reintegration Branch (RRB) is responsible for a range of rehabilitation and reintegration programsand services.
RRB's purpose is to contribute to a safer community through a safe and humanecorrections system that provides opportunities for rehabilitation, supports reintegration and workingtoward Aboriginal self-determination.The Prison Disability Support Initiative (PDSI)



is a state-wide disability support service operating withinRRB.The PDSI aims to:Improve the identification of people accommodated within the prison system with cognitive impairments and associated complex disability needs.Enhance the capacity of prison staff and stakeholders, particularly custodial staff, to effectively support people accommodated within prison settings who demonstrate cognitive impairments.Enhance decision-making about all aspects of supporting those people whilst accommodated in a prison setting, including decisions relating to: placement, case management, rehabilitation options, and transition and reintegration needs.Provide evidence-based therapeutic intervention to improve the independent functioning of people accommodated within prison settings who demonstrate cognitive impairments.Support people accommodated within prison settings who demonstrate cognitive impairments to access appropriate disability support services.Where you will be workingThe Prison Disability Support Initiative (PDSI) is a state-wide rehabilitation service that assists people in custody with cognitive impairments and complex disability needs.
The PDSI is a unit within Corrections Victoria, which is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.The PDSI aims to:Identify people in our care with cognitive disabilities.Assess disability needs to inform decisions on placement, case management and rehabilitation.Educate corrections staff on how to better understand and support the people in their care.Link individuals with appropriate disability support services.What you will doSupport the Manager with the day-to-day operationsIdentify and analyse systems and policy issues arising from the operations of the PDSI and provide advice to senior managementContribute to the ongoing development of processes and proceduresSupport the Manager with overseeing quality assurance and continuous improvement processesManage internal contracts and procurement activityOversee the maintenance of record keeping and information storageCoordinate the collection of data, development of reports and other documentation.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description .
About youTo be successful in this role,



you will have:Experience in Corrections Victoria and Department of Justice and Community Safety systems and applications, including basic word processing, email, appointment scheduling, internet and intranet functions.
Experience utilising prison specific data management systems such as CVIMS and PIMS is highly desirable.Experience in producing a range of complex business correspondence, reports and recommendations to management presenting clear, factual and pertinent information based on knowledge, research and analysis in a forensic, human services environment.
Experience in synthesising and analysing service delivery data and communicating service delivery trends is highly desirable.Experience in providing program support in a human services environment or working on clinically orientated projects and managing or supporting rehabilitation programs is highly desirable.Seeks to understand issues, needs and motivations of others and establishes trust and mutual respect in supporting others, and when providing information and decisions in a sensitive and considerate manner.Qualifications/requirementsRelevant tertiary qualification or experience is desirable.A valid Victorian driver's licence is required for this role.How to ApplyPlease click the Apply button on this advertisement.
