As a leading global media organisation, we are renowned for our pioneering independent journalism and our award-winning digital products.We are seeking for a New South Wales state correspondent to join our reporters team in the Sydney office to lead coverage of New South Wales news for Guardian Australia's state and national audiences.This role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis, requiring occasional weekend work with early starts or late finishes.You'll bring...Lead coverage of the New South Wales news agenda for Guardian Australia's state and national audiences by breaking news and writing features and analysis on topics including, but not limited to, state politicsPursue complex stories in consultation with editors, through multiple sources, using different channels of investigationLiaise with senior editors on story ideas/choices, coverage, planning and execute priorities as directed by the newsdeskNurture contacts, including in specialist areasHelp to cover stories across multiple formats, including podcasts, liveblogs, video and interactive reportsKnowledge and experience5+ years demonstrated experience in initiating and breaking news stories, investigations and features to deadline, preferably in NSWTrack record in leading coverage of stories, including politics and broader issues, preferably in NSWExperience of working in a quick-changing and high-pressure digital news environment,Able to work with editors on planning coverageGood understanding of media lawSkills / behavioursExcellent writing, communication,
