Summary: Managing and instructing on significant matters to ensure that the broader interests of the workers compensation scheme (Nominal Insurer and Treasury Managed Fund) are protected in the dispute resolution process.Location: Sydney CBDFTC - 12 months opportunity with icareHybrid working environment, with three days in Sydney CBD officeAbout the RoleThe role is responsible for managing and instructing on significant matters to ensure that the broader interests of the workers compensation scheme (Nominal Insurer and Treasury Managed Fund) are protected in the resolution process.
The role will also be responsible for driving and facilitating discussion to support workers compensation scheme reforms when required, preparing briefing papers for consideration in making/supporting scheme-wide policy decisions and responding to and implementing (as required) proposed changes to regulation, legislation or icare's strategic development in the workers compensation scheme.A corporate wellbeing program with subsidised gym membership, free flu vaccinations and health check programsComprehensive learning and development support aligned to icare's Core Capabilities.Our People Awards - On-the-spot Recognition, Quarterly Values Awards & Our People Annual AwardsAccess to our Employee Assistance ProgramDutiesIt's an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as an Manager, Dispute Resolution you will:Provide high quality specialist services to achieve positive customer outcomes and to protect the broader interests of the workers compensation scheme.Primary contact of escalation for workers compensation significant litigation/matters and engage senior management and other teams as required.Driving and ensuring positive,
courteous and professional service when interacting with customers and internal and external stakeholders.Engaging with, consulting and managing communications with our service providers and other impacted internal and external stakeholders.Delivering insights, actions/initiatives to senior management about underperformance and opportunities to improve the significant litigation/matter management process.Leading and facilitating education on emerging, significant or systemic trends on significant litigation/matters.Ensure there is adequate staffing to meet the current and projected workload.Coach, mentor and develop high performing specialist and support staff, including overseeing current employee recruitment, onboarding, and retention.Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals through goal setting, feedback and performance development planning.Provide effective employee performance feedback through regular formal quality assurance activities and one on ones.Ensure underperformance of legal service providers is escalated, responded to and managed as required under their Deed.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external).
Prepare correspondence,
reports and briefing material as required.Perform other related duties as assigned.Skills & ExperienceMinimum 5-7 years Workers Compensation experience in a Claims environment and people managementComprehensive understanding of workers insurance legislationExtensive experience in analysing data and identifying insights specific to Worker Compensation ClaimsDemonstrated experience in working in a policy context and balancing commercial objectives with regulatory requirementsAbility to adapt to change in the insurance industry and economic environmentAbility to tailor communications and approach to the specific customerTertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in relevant fieldExcellent relationship management and interpersonal skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillPre-Employment ChecksCultureWe know our strength comes from the diversity of our people and would encourage people with different experiences and backgrounds to apply.
