About the Role
The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing the acquisition, storage, inventory control, and distribution of materials, equipment, and spare parts for solar farm construction, commissioning, and operational activities.
The role ensures that all goods are accurately tracked, securely stored, and available at the required project locations to support safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain stock-control and warehouse-management systems to ensure inventory records are accurate, current, and readily available.
Develop and implement processes for creating pick lists, issuing materials, and dispatching equipment to solar farm work fronts and project locations.
Coordinate the receiving, inspection, storage, handling, and distribution of solar modules, mounting structures, inverters, cables, transformers, tools, consumables, and spare parts.
Provide technical expertise on the acquisition, storage, and distribution of both high-value/low-volume and low-value/high-volume goods and equipment.
Ensure high-value and fragile equipment, including photovoltaic modules and electrical components, is stored, handled, and transported in accordance with manufacturer and project requirements.
Provide advice and direction to suppliers, project personnel, procurement teams, construction teams, and third-party logistics providers.
Manage and supervise personnel involved in purchasing, expediting, demand planning, warehousing administration, and material handling.
Monitor material demand against construction and installation schedules,
identifying potential shortages or delivery risks.
Coordinate transport and deliveries to site, ensuring compliance with site access requirements, delivery schedules, safety procedures, and project priorities.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, missing materials, delayed deliveries, and supplier performance issues.
Maintain accurate documentation for goods receipts, stock movements, delivery dockets, material returns, and asset or serial-number tracking.
Drive continuous improvement in warehousing, inventory control, material traceability, and logistics processes.
Ensure all logistics activities comply with health, safety, environmental, quality, and project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Substantial experience in a similar logistics, warehousing, supply chain, or materials-management role.
Experience in a distribution or project workplace involving large, irregularly shaped, high-value, or sensitive equipment.
Experience in construction, renewable energy, solar, electrical infrastructure, mining, or other major project environments is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience managing inventory, warehousing operations, material dispatch, and third-party logistics providers.
Experience supervising or directing staff responsible for purchasing, expediting, demand planning, warehouse administration, or material handling.
Familiarity with ERP, inventory-control, warehouse-management, and procurement systems.
