About the role
This role is about helping a proud community club become even stronger.
With the size of the Tigers' junior program comes a significant opportunity to strengthen pathways into senior football while supporting the volunteers and coaches responsible for delivering those programs.
You'll work closely with the President and committees, helping turn their priorities into action and providing dedicated support to the people who make the Tigers happen.
Key responsibilities
Supporting and strengthening the Tigers' junior football program
Creating stronger pathways into senior men's and women's football
Growing women's and girls' participation
Recruiting, developing and supporting coaches
Recruiting, developing and retaining volunteers
Working alongside the President and committees to reduce volunteer workload
Supporting football operations, governance and season planning
Improving communication and connection across the club's programs
Building sustainable systems that support the Tigers into the future
About you
Experience in community sport, coaching, development or club administration
Strong understanding of grassroots AFL and junior pathways
Experience supporting participation programs
Demonstrated ability to recruit, support and develop volunteers
Ability to work collaboratively with Presidents and volunteer committees




Excellent organisational and communication skills
Understanding of club governance, planning and sustainable operations
Ability to connect junior, senior, women's and girls' programs
A genuine passion for community sport and developing people
A valid Blue Card

North Cairns Tigers has more than 70 years of football history and is a foundation member of AFL Cairns.
With senior men's and women's football, more than 300 junior players, netball teams and a strong family and community culture, North Cairns is home to one of the region's significant community sporting programs.
AFL Cairns is seeking a Club Development Officer to be embedded within North Cairns Tigers and help build on that foundation.
You will be employed by AFL Cairns, but your day-to-day focus will be the Tigers and their people – working alongside the Club President, committees, coaches, volunteers, players and families.
Benefits
Full-time position
$80,000 per annum plus superannuation
2-year fixed-term contract
Employed by AFL Cairns and embedded within North Cairns Tigers
