Bespoke Behaviour

Shepparton

This isn't the same as the other 20 Behaviour Support Practitioner job ads you've scrolled past today.
We're not going to tell you we have a "supportive culture", offer "ongoing career development", and then send you off with a caseload and a Teams login.
We're Bespoke Behaviour and we're looking for a
Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner in Shepparton and surrounds
.
All we do is Positive Behaviour Support.
Not OT on the side.
Not core supports, speech or support coordination.
PBS is the whole thing.
And we care a lot about doing it properly.
Positive Behaviour Support starts from a pretty simple idea:
behaviour makes sense
.
Our job is to get curious enough to understand why.
Sometimes that means sitting with a family and hearing the story nobody has properly listened to yet.
Sometimes it means watching what happens before a behaviour rather than obsessing over the behaviour itself.
Sometimes it means realising that the "challenging behaviour" is actually a pretty reasonable response to an environment that isn't working for the person.
Then we do something about it.
Day to day, that looks like:
Getting to know people properly through home visits, observation and time with the people who know them best.
Completing Functional Behaviour Assessments that actually explain what is happening (not just fill 40 pages of templates).
Writing Behaviour Support Plans that families and support workers can
actually understand and use
.
Coaching the people around the participant so a good plan becomes good support in real life.
Working alongside families, schools, support workers, OTs, speech pathologists, psychologists,

GPs and other people in the person's world.
Thinking deeply about quality of life, relationships, autonomy, environment and what needs to change around the person
The Bespoke bit
We've grown into a national PBS organisation, but we've worked pretty hard not to become a giant anonymous allied health machine.
You'll have the systems, governance and infrastructure of a national provider, while still working somewhere where people know who you are.
You'll also get:
Proper PBS supervision.
Not a monthly diary check disguised as clinical supervision.
Access to Team Leaders, senior practitioners and experienced PBS clinicians who actually enjoy talking about the work.
Regular training, reflective practice and opportunities to wrestle with the interesting parts of PBS: ethics, restrictive practices, formulation, therapeutic relationships, implementation and the messy grey areas.
A strong focus on practitioner wellbeing.
We think practitioner regulation, psychological safety and burnout are
clinical issues
, not HR buzzwords.
A culture that values relationships as highly as technical competence.
Freedom to have a personality.
We do not need you to become Corporate Allied Health Practitioner #472.
A growing national team, with opportunities to teach, supervise, lead,

develop resources and build a career as we grow.
Leadership that is accessible.
If something is ridiculous, you can tell us it is ridiculous.
And because we
only do Positive Behaviour Support
, the organisation is built around helping PBS practitioners become really, really good at PBS.
About you
You don't need to know everything.
You do need to be curious.
We'd love someone who:
Wants to understand a person before trying to change anything.
Can build genuine relationships with participants, families and support teams.
Thinks critically and isn't afraid to ask,
"Why are we doing it this way?"
Has a minimum Bachelor-level qualification in a cognate discipline such as psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech pathology or counselling.
Holds a Working with Children Check, or is happy to obtain one.
Holds an NDIS Worker Screening Check, or is happy for us to help you organise one.
We're looking for someone to join us in
Shepparton and the surrounding region
.
There's something particularly cool about doing PBS regionally: you get to know the networks, families, schools and services around you properly.
You can become part of the community rather than another clinician appearing briefly on Zoom from Melbourne.
We want someone for the long game.
Someone who wants to become excellent at this work, be supported properly while they do it, and help us build something special in Shepparton.
Come grow with us.
And if you want to get a feel for how we think about PBS before you apply, connect with our Director
