Staff Specialist / VMO - Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

FRANZCOG Obstetrician & Gynaecologist seeking a rewarding regional role with genuine work‐life balance, strong clinical autonomy, and the opportunity to shape and grow a regional O&G; service.
We are working exclusively with a modern regional referral hospital located in a thriving coastal town in South-East NSW, offering an outstanding lifestyle combined with meaningful clinical practice.
The Hospital
This is a well‐established regional public hospital servicing a broad catchment across the South‐East NSW region.
Approximately inpatient beds
Full Emergency Department, ICU/HD, General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Mental Health services
Modern facilities with strong on‐site diagnostic and theatre support
Part of a progressive Local Health District with close links to larger tertiary centres
The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Service
The O&G; department plays a critical role in regional women's health, delivering comprehensive services across:
Antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care
General and operative gynaecology
Emergency obstetric and gynaecological presentations
Inpatient, outpatient and on‐call services
You will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team including midwives, nursing staff, anaesthetics, paediatrics and junior medical staff, with opportunities to:
Contribute to service development and expansion
Support and mentor junior doctors and trainees
Participate in quality improvement,



clinical governance and education
Help foster a strong culture of learning and best practice in a regional setting
This role suits a confident specialist comfortable working with a high level of clinical independence, supported by strong systems and referral pathways.
The Role
Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer appointment
Permanent, full‐time or part‐time options available
Up to 40 hours per week (flexible arrangements considered)
Involves emergency, inpatient and outpatient O&G; care
Essential Criteria
FRANZCOG or eligibility for specialist registration
Specialist registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA
Demonstrated experience managing complex obstetric and gynaecological cases
Commitment to teaching, supervision and clinical excellence
Strong teamwork, communication and leadership skills
Alignment with NSW Health values and patient‐centred care
