The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA) provides Indigenous Australians from across the country with the opportunity to complete nationally accredited, workplace-based traineeships in hospitality, tourism and retail.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate
Residential Manager
to lead our residential operations and support Indigenous trainees on their journey to personal and professional success.

About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the NITA residential facility, leading a team of Residential Supervisors and overseeing programs that support trainee wellbeing, engagement and successful traineeship completion.
You will work closely with training teams, community stakeholders and service providers to ensure trainees receive the support they need to achieve their goals.
This position combines operational leadership, people management and student wellbeing support,



making it ideal for a leader who is passionate about mentoring others and creating positive outcomes for Indigenous Australians.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operation of the residential facility, ensuring high standards of safety, cleanliness and liveability.
Lead, coach and develop a team of Residential Supervisors to deliver exceptional support to trainees.
Design and oversee programs that promote wellbeing, life skills, resilience and personal development.
Support trainee engagement, attendance, retention and successful completion of traineeships.
Develop and manage individual wellbeing plans and coordinate support interventions where required.
Build strong relationships with internal teams, community organisations, support services and other stakeholders.
Manage incidents, reporting requirements and compliance activities in line with organisational and legislative requirements.
Foster a culturally safe, inclusive and supportive environment for trainees and employees.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement and strategic development of the NITA program.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Previous experience leading teams within residential services, community services, accommodation, youth support, education or a similar environment.




Experience working with Indigenous Australians and a genuine understanding of Indigenous cultures, aspirations and challenges.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to mentor, coach and develop others.
Experience supporting wellbeing, engagement and positive development outcomes for young people or trainees.
Well-developed administrative, reporting and organisational skills.
A current Manual Class C Driver's Licence.
The flexibility to participate in residential supervision and after-hours support as required.
